Top Tips on Designing Your Summer Kitchen

The kitchen is often referred to as the heart of the home. A place where family and friends gather to mingle and linger sharing laughs, conversations and memories. Consider the thought of expanding that space into the beautiful outdoors and creating moments to remember during those everlasting summer days.  What would be your ideal summer kitchen?  Here are a few tips to reflect on pergola with granite and brick paverswhen designing your new outdoor space.

Location Evaluation

Your summer kitchen location should be easily accessible to your indoor kitchen. This allows for a closer relationship to in-home utilities and prep area.  A smaller set of utilities may also be desired, if so, plan your location in an area where proper underground lines can be laid or hardwiring can be placed.

Purposeful Precincts

Reflect on how each space poses a purposeful role and works together based on their zone. Hot zones are your grills, cook tops and pizza ovens.  Your wet zone would be the sink and surrounding countertop. Refrigerators, freezers and other cold storage spaces would be your cold zone.  In addition, you have a dry zone.  This is counter space used for food prep, plus cabinetry and storage space not dedicated to supporting any of the other three functioning zones.

Aesthetically Appealing

To compliment your new project, granite is not only a beautiful choice for your summer outdoor kitchen_wood look tile slatskitchen, but is also practical as a bar top and/or counter space. Stacked stone accents are an attractive tribute to the outdoors and offer a wide-variety of elevations to choose from. You can also add wood-look tile as a wrap around or focal wall.  Incorporate an island where family and guests can relax on one side, and the grill master can heat up taste buds on the other.

Whether you are looking to start from scratch or improve the summer kitchen already in place, draw your loved ones closer together by creating a space where laughs, conversations and memories are made.
